A Pep Talk for Mompreneurs Who Are Feeling Discouraged

So I’m in Amy Porterfield’s Digital Course Academy and my goodness, the Digital Course Academy Facebook group is amazing. It’s hard to focus on getting through the amazing modules on kajabi when the community is so rich and discussions so amazing.

I wanted to talk about something today that happens to EVERY single one of us starting a business on maternity leave, or starting a business with young children. It is a mompreneur problem that is very, very common.

COMPARISON AND FEELING DISCOURAGED.

A lady in our Digital Course Academy Facebook Group today wrote about feeling discouraged after googling her business idea and seeing SO MANY PEOPLE already doing it. Furthermore, she felt discouraged because other people had nice instagram accounts, amazing followers, great pages, etc.

I thought, oh my gosh, I hear you! We’ve ALL been there and done that when we have built a business, especially if we have built an online business where comparison is 1000% the thief of joy.

Comparison is the thief of confidence. That’s what I say!

So, I’m going to include my reply to her below. I was so touched by her post and her struggles and just wanted to reach out as someone who’s been there and has compared, and doubted and lost her way many times.

I hope this resonates with you and encourages you to GO FOR IT. Build a business on maternity leave. Build a business with young kids. Become a mompreneur, ok? There’s no better time to begin carving out a future that aligns with your priorities and lifestyle.

My reply:

Dear X:

I am part of a community of women who are exactly your ideal customer avatar, but who are early in parenthood. I read your post and totally resonated with it. I have to tell you something, your topic (wanting to coach mompreneurs and help them with personal development) is a great topic because our lives are so vastly improved and elevated by embarking on personal growth.

As you said, reaching a 2.0 version of ourselves (great potential course name by the way.)

There are millions of women around the world with the same hopes, dreams, problems and challenges and there’s no way one coach or entrepreneur can help them all. There’s millions willing to pay for the right solution and the right help.

There’s a piece of the pie for everyone, trust me. There’s a mama with kids out there, right now, working on her business, looking for another woman to support her on this journey. She has the choice of many out there onlie, but she wants someone she resonates with, who has the same style, who she feels connected with.

Every single one of us, even if we have similar curriculums, ICAs etc has a very different style that is perfect for someone.

The world is waiting for you to share your style, your approach and your way of conceptualizing problems we all face. Fly your flag, share your way of doing, thinking, seeing, feeling, and teaching. You can build a business on maternity leave and you can solve mompreneur problems.

Don’t worry about what anyone else is doing, and stay off the google!

Comparison is the enemy of confidence.

80% of entrepreneurs get derailed before they make progress because they look at what others are doing and it activates unhelpful thoughts, messages, and limiting beliefs. Some from the past, some from the present.

Our ego loves google and comparing ourselves to others. It loves inertia. The ego is chattering and comparing and holding us back everyday, and it starts shouting when it sees what other people are doing. It loves that. It loves to compare. So, trust your inner pilot light, your soul. It is deeper and older and wiser than the brain and its resistance to change.

I totally apologise for my life coachy post here (can you tell this is what I do for a job LOL) but I 1000% believe in you.

You can be a star student in the Digital Course Academy. Literally YOU are the only barrier to the best outcome possible. All you have to do is actually do the work and take action. Be one of the 20% that push through the turbulence that all of us are going to go through in DCA.

I hope this little post helped you, too.

Now, stop googling and get back to building your business :0)
